Walkerworks Picture Framing: A Custom Framing Business Located in the Heart of Stittsville.
Walkerworks Picture Framing is a full service custom picture framing business located in the heart of Stittsville. Our goal is to creatively design custom framing solutions for absolutely anything clients wish to hang on their walls, at a fair price and in an efficient timeframe.
We are honoured to know that clients are entrusting us with their precious items. These may range from objects that will be part of a complicated shadow box project or a photo that simply needs a mat cut for a DIY project. Clients can rest assured that their personal items are handled with care and returned safely protected as part of their new framing project.
Walkerworks is owned and operated by Amy, who has held the designation of Certified Picture Framer® since 2006. A graduate of the University of Ottawa’s Fine Arts Department with a BFA majoring in photography, Amy uses her art education & talents every day in her chosen art form of picture framing.
Creating framing solutions at Walkerworks involves designing with clients, ordering in the required custom materials and bringing the completed design to life. From design to completion typically takes between 2 to 3 weeks with orders completed in a faster time frame when required.
The challenge of designing a beautiful and functional design for a client involves respecting the client’s tastes, preferences and budget while simultaneously honouring the artwork’s subject matter and style. Whether a client has a definitive idea how they want the end result to look or haven’t a clue, they will be guided into a framing solution that will properly enhance and protect their project for years to come.
A framing project at the beginning and end: creating the design and ready to hang.
In addition to providing full custom framing solutions, Walkerworks also provides solutions for existing frame jobs that need updating or repairing. This includes services such as fitting & finishing or simply installing proper hanging hardware. Clients can also purchase “à la carte” components like custom window mats or glass cut to size while experienced home framers can purchase raw materials such as matboards, foam boards, glass, moulding in length and framing hardware & supplies. The shop also carries a line of foam cutting tools from Logan Graphics called Foamwerks and sells supplies that any homeowner might find they need like glass cleaner, hanging hardware and picture hangers.
Walkerworks was founded in 1995 as a home based picture framing and photography business and evolved in 2000 into a retail shop, opening a storefront in downtown Heritage Perth where the business successfully built a client base.
In 2006, Walkerworks was moved to Stittsville in order to take advantage of such things as the larger customer market, better technological opportunities and improved supply chain management. Today Walkerworks is one of Ottawa’s busiest independently owned retail picture framing shops.
Located at the corner of Stittsville Main Street at 2 Beverly Street, Walkerworks has established itself as a landmark of Stittsville’s Traditional Main Street Corridor and will celebrate 10 years in its current location this summer.
